Galerie Zygos

Ion Frantzeskakis

Born in Athens, in 1957, Ion Frantzeskakis studied publishing and art in Athens and London. He worked under different capacities in Galerie Zygos, and published Zygos Annual Edition on the Hellenic Fine Arts (1982-1985). In 1985 he moved to the U.S. and launched and directed Zygos Gallery in Washington DC, (1985-1990), was appointed Executive Director of the Society for the Preservation of the Greek Heritage, with headquarters in Washington, DC, and later launched and directed Stoa Gallery, in Northern California (1995-1997). He founded and directed publishing and marketing company Ionic Concepts, CA (1993-1999), was a consultant to Hellenic Journal, CA, and Hellenic Pilgrimage, NY, as well as a consultant to the Hellenic Dimension Project , Chicago, IL. He served as President of the Lookout Sculpture Park, and in the boards of the Petaluma Downtown Association, the Cyprus Museum of Northern Carolina, and others. In 2000 he repatriated to his native Athens and re-opened Galerie Zygos which had temporarily ceased operations due to his parents’ retirement.
