Galerie Zygos

Born in Yialousa, Turkish-occupied Cyprus, in 1955, George Koumouros studied Mathematics, University of Athens, School of  Physics and Mathematics, (1980) and Painting, Pythagorios Academy of Fine Arts in the island of Samos, in collaboration with the  Academy of Fine Arts in Boston, (1989).

Parallel to painting, he worked for several years in Greece as a teacher in Mathematics. In 1993 he resettled in Cyprus and was appointed as a teacher in Secondary Education. In 1995, he was seconded to the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute in the Department of Educational Technology and Production of Educational Material. He has directed several short films and documentaries. His work can be found in public and private collections. Since 1982, he runs his own painting workshop.

He has had three solo shows with Galerie Zygos, Athens (2007, 2005, 2003), several at the Apocalypsi Gallery in Lefkosia (2006, 2004, 2002, 1999, 1997, 1994, 1992, 1990), and a few more in art galleries in Cyprus, Greece and England.
