Galerie Zygos

Artist and writer Kostas Lahas was born in 1936 at Kato Theodoraki, Kilkis, Norhern Greece, of refugee Pontian parents. Parallel to his studies at the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki (Dept of Economic and Political Studies) he got involved with Theater, completing his studies at the Theatro Technis of Karolos Koun.  A resident of Thessaloniki, he worked at “Techni”, at the State Theater of Northern Greece, The Film Festival, at the Bookstore “Themelio”, as a medical representative during the military junta, until 1972, when he opened “Kohlias”, the first professionally organized art gallery of Thessaloniki, which he directed till 1986. He also served as cultural journalist and critic in several Thessaloniki and Athens newspapers, he participated in publishing ventures, he got elected as Member of the City Council for two terms, he wasw Director of the Velideion Cultural Center, and since 1999 he served as Artistic Counselor for the State Museum of Modern Art of Thessaloniki. In 1995 he was unanimously awarded the State Award for Short Story for his book “Askiseis epi Ammodohou”, while lyrics of his were used in music by Thanos Mikroutsikos, and sung by Dimitra Galani, Dimitris Mitropanos and Christos Thivaios. As a painter he is a member of the Greek Chamber of the Arts, and as a writer in both the Thessaloniki and Athens Societies of Writers,
