Michalis Rapanakis obtained a B.Sc. in Mathematical Physics from Athens University and a M.Sc. in Systems Engineering from London University, followed by a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from London University.
He has worked as a researcher in Applied Mathematics for the British Steel Corporation's Laboratories, and as a lecturer in mathematics.
Michael's interest in non-alphabetical scripts, ancient languages and philosophy is represented in many of his works.
His work and technique are multifaceted and so is his use of different materials - wood, enamel, metal and glass. He has exhibited at the Shepperton Institute, at the Camden Institute, at the Square Gallery, Ormond Road Centre, Original Gallery and Galerie Zygos. He has participated in different Haringay Arts Council group exhibitions and the Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors Gravers in November 1998 at the Westminster Gallery. His first one-man show was an exhibition of mosaics at Lauderdale House, Highgate in autumn 1999.
